Flying with a camera? No problem!
We landed on the Arusha airstrip on wednesday, at 9:00 pm local time, a hot and damp night. The next day we drove to Same district to shoot the first episode of our documentary series in Africa. The subject was water irrigation and financial management. Same has a city bond with the Dutch city Tilburg, they have been helping to develop the region for the last 23 years.
I have recently bought a set of IDX endura elite batteries and a Zacuto plate for the v-mount. I added a weight of 1,3 kg in de back and all was balanced. So I basically had a proper handheld camera in terms of weight and balance. This helps a lot in weight displacement and on one of these batteries I can shoot two full days!
After a lot of waiting my Letus Extreme finally arrived. I basically read all I needed to know on dvxuser.com and learned a lot form Steve Callis and Phlip Bloom in watching their blogs and configuration. It is indeed a fine piece of machinery! With the EX1 specific achromat and the new Nikon mount the adapter sits perfectly aligned on the Zacuto bars. More updates as I get to put this beast to work! See some more shots in the gallery.
